Marketing management can be a very broad term. For most businesses it the management of the companies marketing resources such as print, branding, advertisements and similar material. The role of a market manager can vary greatly based on the size and type of company. In many cases they will be involved with a product from the concept to the shelf.
Marketing management is considered to be one of the most important jobs by many businesses. It encompasses all factors of a successfully run business so can be considered in the job description of everyone from the receptionist to the CEO. Marketing is the distinguishing of a business and when coupled with innovation can make a business do very well.
In some businesses marketing management is simply relegated to making brochures, press releases, and advertising campaigns. In some companies it merely refers to whatever the marketing department does which can be any number of things. Other parts of the company often make marketing decisions as well, such as the price of a product.
